Isn’t she lucky?
Blake Lively stepped out to the world premiere of her new film, It Ends With Us, at New York’s AMC Lincoln Square theater last night wearing the same glittering Versace dress worn by Britney Spears in 2002. “It’s Britney’s actual dress,” the actress and entrepreneur told People upon arriving. “It should be in the Smithsonian or the Met. But it’s on me. I feel so lucky.”
According to Tab Vintage, Lively purchased the dress from the shop’s archives. The mother of four took to Instagram Stories earlier in the day to praise the superstar singer as “the ultimate queen who made us all want to sparkle and write and share our stories.” Spears wore the dress while attending Versace’s Spring/Summer women’s 2003 collection presentation in Milan on Oct. 1, 2002.
Lively added, “Britney, us millennials all have a story of a moment, or of years that you made us want to shine and inspire awe, with strength, and joy and immensely hard work. Thank you for your example and your contribution to women telling their stories. So excited about your biopic and all you have to come.”
Universal is readying a feature film project based on Spears’ best-selling The Woman in Me memoir. Jon M. Chu, the filmmaker responsible for the forthcoming two-part Wicked feature adaptation, is on board to direct after the studio landed the rights in a highly competitive situation.
The Versace dress Lively wore, a one-shoulder evening dress crafted in georgette with all-over embroidery and shades of pastels, is a nice complement to Lively’s method dressing on the current press tour for the film.
